Staff and volunteers who care for our patients were treated to caring messages for Valentine’s Day. As part of an annual tradition led by the JGH Humanization of Care Committee, elementary school students from the English Montreal School Board created Valentine cards to express their gratitude to teams throughout the hospital.
The hand-decorated cards were delivered to day, night and weekend staff. Everyone from the Maintenance and Food Service teams to x-ray technicians, palliative care nurses, first responders—among many others—received a Valentine. A few of the personalized messages read:
- “I love how you clean the rooms and floors because it’s dirty with all the germs and people get sick”
- “Thank you for trying to help my grandma and grandpa”
- “I went to you guys for a surgery and you nurses made me all better”
Hundreds of cards were collected from the five participating schools, and dropped off for distribution at the JGH in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day.
