PRAIDA (the Regional Program for the Settlement and Integration of Asylum Seekers) has attracted international attention! The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) directed a delegation from Wales to visit the PRAIDA team to learn more about its programs, services and approach to supporting asylum seekers in Quebec.
During the visit, PRAIDA staff shared their expertise in addressing challenges similar to those faced by the Welsh team. They highlighted their strategies for fostering autonomy among asylum seekers while helping them develop the skills needed to integrate successfully into their new communities.
The visit also included a meeting with teams from the SHERPA University Institute and the Centre of Expertise on the Well-being and Physical Health of Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CERDA). This exchange showcased the work our CIUSSS carries out in research, program evaluation and knowledge transfer to better support refugees and asylum seekers.
