Hats off to members of our SAPA long-term care team, who highlighted some of the latest initiatives of our CIUSSS at a recent conference of the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association.

Hetal Patel, Program Coordinator at SAPA—Long-Term Care, made an oral presentation on our PAB coaches, who provide orientation, ongoing training, one-on-one coaching and other support for orderlies in long-term care centres of our CIUSSS.

In addition, Rajshree Patel, assistant Head Nurse at Saint Andrew’s Residential Centre, and Stéphanie Desgagné, Program Coordinator (interim) at Saint Andrew’s, presented a poster on providing timely palliative care by enhancing nurses’ proficiency in recognizing long-term care residents who are progressing toward the end of life.

“There was a lot of interest in the audience in what we had done,” Hetal Patel, Site Coordinator at Saint Margaret Residential Centre, said about the conference on April 20-22 in Niagara Falls. “They asked a lot of questions about our work.”

Congratulations to the team!
