MAB Mackay Rehabilitation Centre hosted its second annual blood drive on September 12, reaching the goal of 34 donors. The event was held in support of colleague Melanie Bergthorson, whose personal experience with a medical condition inspired the first edition of the blood drive, and who was named honorary president of this year’s event.

“We organized the blood drive in honour of Melanie, an OT colleague and friend, who was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis,” says Kelly White, an Occupational Therapist at MAB-Mackay and member of the drive’s organizing committee. “The day was a great success thanks to Héma-Québec, volunteers and donors. We’re excited for next year’s event!”
