Our 10,000 employees are spread across 34 sites, but are all united in a passion for delivering excellent care. For our part, we strive to create a workplace environment and career growth opportunities that support and motivate staff in providing an exceptional experience to our patients, our residents and our clients.
These winning conditions have recently earned CIUSSS West-Central Montreal a coveted distinction as one of Montreal’s Top Employers of 2019. The achievement comes as a first in the short history of our CIUSSS, and will encourage us to continue building on our strengths.
One of those key values is the exemplary teamwork that has long been part of the culture in many of our institutions, and that has flourished within the network as we create ties with new partners along the continuum of care.
That spirit of cooperation was displayed by the many directorates who came together, under the leadership of Human Resources, to create our submission to Top Employers. It was a massive undertaking, a process that took four full months to complete.
Undaunted, the multi-disciplinary team crafted a 120-page application reflecting the eight selection criteria that determine the quality of our employees’ work life: Physical Workplace, Work Atmosphere and Social Health, Financial and Family Benefits, Vacation and Time Off, Employee Communications, Performance Management, Training and Skills Development, and Community Involvement.
The project was led by Jessica Nelson, an HR Staffing Technician, who under the guidance of Maria Monaco, Chief of Talent Acquisition, Staffing and Client Services, coordinated with two committees that were formed to respond to all the required fields.
One committee included the departments in the Humans Resources, Communications, Legal Affairs and Global Security directorate, who shared their expertise in areas such as pension and health care plans, benefits, public relations and other communications tools. Meanwhile, the second committee, composed of staff from several facilities and directorates, imparted a wealth of information about the work environment and activities at each of the sites within our CIUSSS.
The Top Employer honour validates our long-held view that wherever you may find yourselves working within our network, you are well placed to pursue a fulfilling long-term career. Just consider our wide range of progressive benefits, such as flexible work hours, telecommuting opportunities, generous vacation periods and retirement-planning assistance.
Other important career-enhancing opportunities that were recognized during the selection process—and that distinguish us among Montreal organizations—include the implementation of internal, online and leadership training, as well as the availability of mentoring, paid internships and management succession programs.
To each and every one of our network’s employees, whose talent and dedication we appreciate and nurture—I offer my sincerest congratulations. We all share in this remarkable achievement, and contribute to making CIUSSS West-Central Montreal one of the greatest places to work in our vibrant city.
