Blood drive held in honour of CIUSSS occupational therapist

LLMRC blood drive

The Lethbridge-Layton-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre (LLMRC) hosted its sixth annual blood drive, in collaboration with Héma-Québec, on September 20. Each year, the drive is held in honour of Melanie Bergthorson, an occupational therapist at LLMRC who requires frequent blood transfusions due to myasthenia gravis, a chronic condition. The latest edition saw 46 people donate blood. Not only does the drive help Héma-Québec replenish its blood bank, it reminds us all that donating blood saves lives. Many thanks to the organizing committee—Melanie Bergthorson, Stephanie Rishikof, Enza Stabile, Emma Steven and Kelly White—and to all of the donors for making this year’s drive a success once again.
