The bonds between the young and the elderly bring benefits to both. At the Father Dowd Residential Centre, these connections are flourishing thanks to an initiative led by the Recreation team.
Staff have organized visits by children from a nearby daycare to engage with residents in playful pastimes. During one visit this year, children aged 4 and 5 joined in for a lively puzzle-making session.
Father Dowd Recreation Educator Teresa Cerone notes that residents look forward to the visits, which allows them to laugh and engage with the young visitors.
